After chase, local woman faces charges



AUSTINTOWN -- A 41-year-old Boardman woman faces several charges, including resisting arrest, driving under the influence and failing to comply with a police order after leading Austintown police on a high-speed chase through the township around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Boardman police called Austintown police, asking them to check on her after her daughter called Boardman police for help. The daughter told Boardman police that her mother had telephoned her from a pay phone and acknowledged consuming a large quantity of pills and alcohol.
The daughter provided police with the number of the pay phone, according to her Caller ID, enabling police to locate the woman at a public phone near the corner of Kirk and South Raccoon roads. According to Austintown police reports, when the woman spotted an ambulance she fled the scene, leading police on a chase that reached speeds up to 70 mph.
The pursuit ended at the woman's Lockwood Boulevard home. She was arrested, handcuffed and transported to Forum Health Northside Medical Center for evaluation.
