Should you switch?
Before switching to a different natural gas provider, there are things you should consider:
Price: What is the overall rate per 1,000 cubic feet, including gas, taxes and transportation?
Contract length: How long will you be locked into the rate? Must you sign a contract?
Penalties: Are there any fines or penalties if you decide to switch plans before the end of a contract?
Compare: Visit the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio Web site at www.puc.state. oh.us, to see charts that compare public utility costs with eight gas providers. The site also provides consumers with a form that helps them calculate costs of another provider. Click on the "Apples to Apples" icon for natural gas comparisons.
