Tri-T North reaches Pony finals against Hagerstown

POLAND -- The Tri-T North All-Star baseball team will play Hagerstown (Md.) today at 3:30 p.m. in the championship game of the Pony League East Zone West Regional that's being hosted by Poland Community Baseball Association.
If Tri-T North wins, it will force a deciding game. The winner advances to the Pony League East Zone Tournament that begins Thursday at Woonsocket, R.I.
Tri-T North opened the tournament with a 6-1 victory over East Liverpool as Adam Wigley tossed a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Losing pitcher John Weese gave up five hits while striking out 13.
Tri-T North then lost 9-0 to Hagerstown as Brent Toms had four hits, including a pair of homers.
Dave Buccino had two hits for Tri-T North.
Tri-T North rebounded with a 10-8 victory over East Liverpool in the losers' bracket finale. Mike Cleland homered, while Dom Marchionda had two hits.
East Liverpool's wins were against: Garaway-Hiland, 5-2; and Fairfield, 4-3.
In other games, Hagerstown defeated Fairfield, 4-3, and Fairfield beat Garaway-Hiland, 8-7.
