Chorale concert set
SHARON, Pa. -- "Songs of Love and Life" is the theme of Shenango Valley Chorale's spring concert scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 600 E. State St. Director Edgar S. Groves said the concert selections embrace a variety of musical styles and themes including songs of inspiration and patriotism.
Soloists for "The Heavens Are Telling" by Franz Joseph Haydn are soprano Joyce Winner of Sharon; tenor Bernard Crespi of Edinburg; and bass Terry Zahniser of Sharon. The men in the chorale will sing "Vive L'Amour" arranged by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw and the women will present "The Rose" by Amanda McBroom.
Cynthia Ward and Raymond Ocock are accompanists.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and children. Tickets are available in advance by calling (724) 342-0793 or at the door.
Featuring local tenor
Tenor John Camuso of Youngstown will be featured in Opera Circle's production of Moniuszko's "Letters of Love" at 8 p.m. Saturday in Kent State University Fashion Museum Murphy Recital Hall and at 8 p.m. May 8 in Severance Hall, Cleveland.
Camuso made his debut with Opera Circle last fall in "I Puritani." He is a cantor at St. Charles Church in Boardman and assistant principal at Brookfield High School. Past performances have been with Opera Columbus, Ohio State University Opera Workshop and the Youngstown and Warren Italian festivals.
Other performances in "Letters of Love" include soprano Dr. Dorota Sobieska, who founded Opera Circle with her husband, Jacek; baritone Ray Liddle of Cleveland; and mezzo-soprano Dr. Joanne Uniatowski of Cleveland Institute of Music.
