YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are investigating an allegation by an East Marion Avenue man that two brothers set his house on fire.
Police are also trying to find out who shot three men in an unrelated matter Sunday.
Angel Delgado, 21, of East Marion Avenue told police he was visiting at a friend's house on East Marion when some other friends came Sunday and told him his house had burned down. Reports say the fire took place at about 7 a.m. The front of the house and most of the furnishings were burned. A small Boston Terrier puppy was killed in the fire.
Suspects brothers: Delgado told police he thinks two brothers, one who lives on East Evergreen and another who lives on Hilton Avenue, are responsible for the fire. He said he has been having ongoing problems with the brothers. Fire officials were checking the house today for a cause of the fire.
Delgado told police Sunday that at about 6 p.m. Friday, one of the brothers attempted to run him over with a car while he stood outside a house on Belleview Avenue. He said the car struck him and he flipped over the hood, cracking the windshield. He was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Delgado also said he saw the 23-year-old driver of the car on East Evergreen later Friday night. The man approached him, pulled out a gun and said, "Cough up the money now," demanding that he be reimbursed for the car's cracked windshield.
Delgado said the confrontations carried over into Saturday, when he was approached by the other brother at a convenience store at Glenwood and Warren avenues at 11:30 a.m. He said the 25-year-old Hilton Avenue man put a gun in his face and threatened to kill him if he ever saw him out at night.
Multiple shooting: Police also are investigating a multiple shooting that happened in the 100 block of East Marion Avenue early Sunday.
Joseph Gonzalez, 20, of 9th Street, Campbell, said he was sitting in his Chevrolet Blazer about 3:20 a.m. when he noticed two men running toward the truck, shooting. He tried to drive off, but he was shot in the cheek.
Twin brothers Thomas and Trent Hight, 23, both of Dean Street, Youngstown, also were in Gonzalez's vehicle. Trent Hight was shot in both feet. Thomas was shot in the back of the head and his left side. Reports say the injuries suffered by the men are not life-threatening.
The Hight brothers were treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center. There was no medical report available for Gonzalez.
