Suspension expected
AUSTINTOWN -- A school bus driver who was involved in a two-vehicle accident with her bus March 9 at St. Joseph School is expected to be suspended for three days without pay.
The driver, Terri Wolfe, is slated to be suspended during tonight's Austintown school board meeting, said Superintendent Richard Denamen. The suspension will take place between May 1 and May 3.
Denamen said no pupils were in the bus and nobody was injured when the accident occurred.
The accident happened at about 2:30 p.m. in the school parking lot on New Road after Wolfe had dropped off pupils. A police report says Wolfe turned the wrong way from a turning lane on New Road into the parking lot, striking the front of a car driven by Patrick Tonti of Austintown. Tonti's front bumper was taken off in the collision.
Wolfe then drove off. Wolfe later returned to the parking lot and called police.
The school board's policy is to suspend drivers for three days without pay, when they have been in accidents. Denamen said the accident will not affect the district's bus service.
