YOUNGSTOWN -- Chatrchai Watanakunakorn, M.D., of Youngstown was one of 43 internists given the title of Master by the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine in Atlanta last month. Dr. Watanakunakorn, who has an office on Belmont Avenue, was the only internist in Ohio to receive the recognition. Mastership is the highest attainable level of membership in ACP-ASIM, the nation's largest medical specialty organization. The Master title recognizes members for personal character, positions of honor, contributions toward furthering the purposes of the organization, eminence in practice or in medical research and attainments in science or medicine.
HERMITAGE -- Valley Piano and Organ, with retail stores in Hermitage, Boardman, Niles and Mentor, was named one of the top Lowrey Organ retailers in the world at the a recent music merchant trade show in Anaheim, Calif. It's the seventh consecutive year the company has won the recognition. Tom Bayus, president, founded the business in 1985. He also has organ studios in New Castle, Meadville and Erie, Pa., and is making plans to open new stores in Akron and Cleveland.
YOUNGSTOWN -- John Hughes, owner of McVean and Hughes Funeral Home, Youngstown, was presented the Mother Magdalen Award recently by the Sisters of the Humility of Mary in Villa Maria, Pa. The award recognizes a benefactor whose dedication and service helps further the work of the order's ministry and mission. Besides handling funeral services for members of the order, McVean has served on several boards and committees for St. Elizabeth Health Center, a Humilty of Mary Health Partners facility.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Insurance Buyers Service on Market Street has been recognized as a member of the ProNational Insurance Co. Leadership Circle. The title recognizes the company for outstanding customer service, industry knowledge, sales and leadership. ProNational is based in Okemos, Mich.
