EAST LIVERPOOL -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Dawson Funeral Home for John E. Morgan, 78, of 81 Eight Iron Circle, Anglers Green, Mulberry, Fla., formerly of East Liverpool, who died April 12 in Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
Mr. Morgan, who was known as "Ted," was born Jan. 26, 1923, in East Liverpool, a son of John and Maude Watkin Morgan, and lived in Florida the past 13 years.
He retired as an electrician working for Sayre Electric Co. and also worked out of the Electricians Union Local 246 in Steubenville. He was a member of Trinity Church in East Liverpool, where he served as elder, and Shepherd Road Presbyterian Church in Florida.
He graduated in 1941 from East Liverpool High School, where he played varsity basketball and was a member of its Alumni Association. He was a member of East Liverpool Elks Lodge 258 and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Besides his wife, the former June Schmelzenbach, whom he married Dec. 22, 1942, he leaves two sons, Daniel T. of McDonald and David J. of East Liverpool; three sisters, Aileen Stephens of Huntington, Tenn., Bonnie Clutter of Wheeling, W.Va., and Shirley Morgan Craig in Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Two brothers, William and the Rev. Tom, are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where an Elks service will be at 7 p.m.
