Red Cross to sponsor annual ball



Proceeds will provide services and assistance for area residents.
LIBERTY -- The Holiday Inn MetroPlex Center will be the setting May 5 for the fifth annual Red and White Ball to be sponsored by the Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Invitations have been issued for the black-tie event. Festivities will begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. and a dinner at 7:30. The auction will be held from 6 to 10.
The cost for the evening is $100 a person. Proceeds will be used to fund chapter programs such as disaster services, emergency assistance for military families, and health and safety programs.
In conjunction with the event, there will be a silent and live auction for a variety of items, including a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette convertible and tickets for games to be played by the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Ohio State University. There will also be an opportunity for patrons to bid on the use of vacation homes in Florida and for a trip for four to Walt Disney World.
In charge: Frank and Norma Watson will serve as honorary chairpersons for the 2001 ball. Thomas Will is serving as chairman, and Dean Muller is co-chairman.
Heading various committees are Florence Wang, Richard Lis, Dr. Jenifer Lloyd, Helen Paes, Carlton Sears, John MacIntosh, Kelly Becker-Rumberg and Jim Soda.
