St. Lucy Church and St. Rosa de Lima will host a paddle auction at 3 p.m. March 10 at the Palermo Banquet Center, 394 Tenney Ave., Campbell. Doors open at 2 and cost is $10 for a paddle and additional paddles will be sold for $1 each that evening. One complimentary bowl of pasta and meatball or arroz con pollo and beans will be offered to each person in attendance. Additional food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, will be the site of the inaugural Groundhog Day Craft Beerfest from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 2, in the Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom. The event is sponsored by The Rotary Club of Youngstown. General admission tickets are $40 and VIP tickets are $60, and can be purchased through the Stambaugh Auditorium box office by calling 330-259-0555 or by visiting www.stambaughauditorium.com. The box office is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will be a $5 service fee per ticket. Salem Historical Society is using the theme “Made in Salem” for the annual Salem community calendar. This edition of the calendar features all photographs in full color, including Mullins Manufacturing Co., Grove Chewing Gum, songwriter Brooks Bowman, The Farm and Dairy, nationally recognized artist Charles Burchfield, Theiss Aviation, The Quaker Mule Tractor, the baskets of Strotter Brown, Deming Pumps, Ella Thea Smith-Cox “Exploring Biology” book, Wirsching Organ Company, Woodruff Stove Company, and Salem China. Polish Youngstown is inviting Mahoning Valley residents to kulig, a winter celebration, that will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Ma and Pa’s, 15161 Main St., Burton. There will be horse-drawn sleigh rides, roasted kielbasa, dancing and singing, homemade krupnik, maple coffee, stew and baked goods in the Log Cabin. Mineral Ridge Alumni Association is sponsoring a bus trip to Rivers Casino Pittsburgh on Feb. 20. Cost is $35 with $20 for slots and a $5 food bonus. Photo identification is required at the casino. Bus will leave at 9 a.m. from St. Mary Catholic Church, 3504 state Route 46. Arrive at 8:30 for complimentary coffee and doughnuts. Youngstown State University and Cliffe College will host a bus trip to New York City from March 21 to 23. The trip will feature a performance by the Dana Piano Trio at Carnegie Hall. Seats are limited. The bus will leave YSU at 8 a.m. March 21. There will be one stop for lunch, and participants must pay for their own. The bus will return to YSU at 6:30 p.m. March 23. Cost is: 4 persons/two double beds – $425 per person; 3 persons/two double beds – $460 per person; 2 persons/two double beds or one king – $550 per person (must specify double or king bed); and 1 person/one king – $850 per person.
