Farmers’ Market to host cooking class

The Austintown Farmers’ Market and Family First Adult Day Services will host “Healthy Cooking for One or Two People” at 6 p.m. Monday during the market, Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.

The class is free, but registration is required by calling 330-349-2503 or email austintownfarmersmarket@gmail.com. The market also will feature food, crafts, produce vendors, and kids’ crafts and a free healthy cooking demonstration.

Learn Spanish at the Salem library

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., has arranged for an eight week series of beginner Spanish classes to be taught by Maryann Weber, adjunct professor at Kent State University Salem.

The classes will take place in the library’s Quaker Room from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on consecutive Tuesdays from Sept. 10 to Oct. 20 The classes, for adults who have little or no background in the language or who learned some Spanish a long time ago, are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, and registration is required. Register once to sign up for all classes at www.salem.lib.oh.us or by calling the library at 330-332-0042 for assistance.

Library to offer job-seeker classes

Help for writing resum s and cover letters will be available at a technology class at Salem Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 4. Instructor Stephanie Peterson will help job seekers create resum s and cover letters that improve the likelihood of getting hired. The class will take place in the library’s Quaker Room, 821 E. This class is open to the public and free to attend. The class is provided through a Guiding Ohio Online grant made by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the State Library of Ohio.

Struthers class celebrates reunion

The Struthers High School graduating class of 1964 recently celebrated its 55-year reunion Aug. 9 through 11. The weekend began with a ‘Fun, Food and Friends’ gathering at Mauthe Park in Struthers. The next evening the class celebrated with a dinner and dance at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. The weekend came to a close with breakfast also at the Holiday Inn.

They spent the weekend sharing memories and making new ones. The class of 1964, up to that year, was the largest graduating class since the school opened in 1921, with 215 classmates. They have been gathering for a reunion every five years since 1964.
