Dobbins students in math competition

Poland Dobbins Elementary recently participated in the EOCTM math competition April 27 at Austintown Fitch High School.

Many Mahoning Valley schools sent their best math students in fourth, fifth and sixth grade to compete in geometry, number relationships, mental math, calculator and word problems and data analysis. Dobbins’ fourth-graders took a series of tests in the previously mentioned five math areas. Those students who scored at the highest levels went on to compete with similarly ranked students from other school districts. Each math area recognized first, second and third place.

The Dobbins’ team included Emma White (second place in calculator and word problems), Haley Trolio (first place in Geometry), Jackie Grisdale (first place in calculator and word problems), Molly Malmer (geometry), Erin Morell (mental math), Steve Madick (data analysis), Brody Todd (data analysis) Will Davies (first place mental math), Cameron Burke (second place in number relationships) and Grace Economus (number relationships).
