Pa. town cleans up after tornado

UNION CITY, Pa. (AP) — Residents in northwestern Pennsylvania are cleaning up in the aftermath of a confirmed tornado that touched down earlier this week.

The National Weather Service says the tornado that touched down in Union City on Tuesday had winds of more than 100 miles per hour. It took down trees and power lines and scattered trash cans, but no injuries or structural damage are being reported.

The Erie Times-News reports officials have visited Union City and other areas as they survey the damage.

The tornado ripped the communications tower off the top of the Union City municipal building and flung it into a nearby parking lot. One building had part of its brick facade pulled off, while another had its front windows blown out.
