Brookfield levy passes by one vote, recount coming

WARREN — The final count of votes cast in the Brookfield school levy May 7 shows the levy passed by one vote — 930 to 929.

The Trumbull County Board of Elections is expected to certify the results at a meeting at 3:30 p.m. today.

The 4.85-mill, additional, continuing levy will raise $606,002 annually.

Election-night results showed the levy being approved by three votes — 927 to 924.

But the elections board still had to count seven absentee ballots and 10 provisional ballots in the weeks since the election. It completed the counting of those ballots this morning.

With only a one-vote margin of victory, the results will qualify for an automatic recount by the elections board, but based on other recent recounts, no change in the results is expected.
