YOUNGSTOWN

At its annual scholarship banquet, the Wolves Club of Youngstown awarded four-year scholarships to nine local high school students.

The May 17 event took place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Hall, where Dr. Allan Mosher and his wife, Jennifer Jones Mosher, and student Lauren Corcoran entertained the guests. All are from Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music.

Those awarded scholarships are Rachel Davis, Sarah Davis and Joshua Herington, all of Austintown Fitch High School; Derrick Mazon of Summit Academy; Stephanie Perno and Elizabeth Myers, both of Struthers High; Matthew Scott of Boardman High; Jenette Morell of Canfield High; and Sarah Figueroa of Poland High.

The Wolves Club comprises local Italian-American professionals who support higher education.

Through various fundraisers, the club is able to provide scholarships each year. The $40,000 distributed this year is the result of its 2012 fundraising, which is matched by the Youngstown State University Foundation.

In addition, the Wolves will award $7,000 to the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, which includes matching funds from the Humility of Mary Health Partners Development Foundation. Three scholarships will go to local nursing students.
