Librarian John Yingling hosted a garden-themed story time May 1 for 2- and 3-year-olds at the Boardman library.
The event began with Yingling reading a new book that just came to the library April 30 - “Quick Duck!” by Mary Murphy, about a duckling whose mother and siblings are waiting for him in a river close by. Yingling also read “Busy Bug” by Ben Mantle about the different bugs that are found in the garden, including butterflies, caterpillars, ladybugs, beetles and more, “Can You Make a Scary Face” by Jan Thomas and “One Little Seed” by Elaine Greenstein, which told the story of a little boy who plants a garden, but a goat begins to eat the flowers.
Yingling also led children in several activities, such as matching pictures of flowers with their names and a finger play about planting flowers and the growth cycle of flowers.
The story time ended with the opportunity to make a flower craft.
