Adults learned about the latest travel apps during Appy Hour at the Poland library May 13.

The hour-long program, led by librarian Missy Williams, featured different themes for applications each month. The program gives adults answers to questions including “What is an app?,” “How do I find an app for my device?,” “Will I have to pay for the apps I install?” and “How do I install apps to my device?”

“Some people aren’t familiar with their devices or apps; this program allows them to come together to learn more information and share different apps,” said Williams.

Williams used an iPad to show attendees how to maneuver their way through the App Store and what they may find if they visited their App Store via iTunes. Williams offered advice to participants.

“There are thousands and thousands of apps out there; think about what you need and search for it,” said Williams.

Throughout the program Williams offered helpful tips for inexperienced app users.

“When you’re app is pulling data from the Internet your battery will drain faster, so if you’re playing a game on the internet, plug in your device,” she said.

Williams reminded participants that they can download an ebook for 21 days through the library’s overdrive app.

The Appy Hour program is offered once a month at the Poland library.
