ODOT project would improve US 422

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The Ohio Department of Transportation is proposing the rehabilitation of U.S. Route 422 over the Madison Avenue Expressway (U.S. Route 62/state Route 7).

The project is scheduled for construction in spring 2014 and will require the closure of the westbound entrance ramp from the Madison Avenue Expressway to 422 for approximately 60 days.

The eastbound exit ramp from 422 to the expressway also will be closed for approximately 60 days when the outside eastbound lane on 422 is closed, or when traffic is crossed over onto the westbound lanes.

The official detour route for the westbound entrance ramp and eastbound exit ramp is Albert Street. A minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained at all times on Route 422. Access to adjacent properties will be maintained during construction, according to ODOT.

The department is requesting help regarding the presence of cultural resources in the vicinity of the project. Cultural resources include prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, historic bridges, historic buildings, sites and districts.

Questions and/or comments regarding this project may be submitted by June 16.
