Man turns self in after being charged with Warren murder

WARREN
Police were busy Monday investigating a Sunday homicide, three gunshot victims, a rape and a woman who was cut several times with a knife.
Jarred Watson, 28, of Front Street Southwest and 148 Dickey Ave. Northwest, turned himself in to police Monday afternoon after Warren Municipal Court issued an arrest warrant for him in the death of George L. Myers, 57, of 148 Dickey Ave. NW.
Police said Watson, who is the ex-boyfriend of Myers’ daughter, is charged with murder and most likely will be arraigned today in the municipal court.
Police said Myers was found dead of assault wounds at 4 a.m. Sunday in the backyard at 148 Dickey. Lt. Jeff Cole, spokesman for the Warren Police Department, said it is not known what led to the assault.
A neighbor described Myers as peaceful.
“He did yard work. Nobody had problems with him,” said the neighbor from across the street, Jasmine Yutzy.
Police were called to 148 Dickey at 3:57 a.m. for a disturbance and injury. When they arrived, they found Myers dead in the backyard.
It is the fourth homicide of 2013, after the city recorded five in 2012.
It was not the only violence in the city over the weekend.
At 5:55 p.m. Sunday, police were called to 766 Fourth St. SW for shots being fired. Annette M. Freeman, 47, of 776 Fourth St. SW was shot in the lower extremities. William F. Crenshaw, 28, of Dover Street Southwest in Warren Township, was shot in the biceps.
Police found crime scenes at 766 Fourth St. and across the street, where there is a vacant house and a vacant lot, according to a police report.
Cole said it appears the gunfire erupted after Crenshaw and another man got into an argument. Crenshaw and Freeman were taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for treatment.
A third gunshot victim was a 24-year-old Tod Avenue Southwest man, who suffered an apparent minor injury from being shot at 12:15 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Parkman Road and Front Street Southwest.
Audie L. Broadus was treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial, police said. Broadus knew his assailant, and police are investigating.
Meanwhile, Diana L. Ramer, 51, of the 2300 block of Plaza Avenue Northeast, was injured from being cut with a knife several times at her apartment at 11 p.m. Saturday. Ramer said an unknown male cut her after breaking into her apartment.
A short time later, a woman living in the 2300 block of Plaza also reported being raped by an unknown male. Police also are investigating that assault.
At 3:15 p.m. Saturday at 243 Logan Ave. SE, a 38-year-old woman said two men she knows came into her apartment and held her 17-year-old daughter at gunpoint while taking about $300 in cash.
