The Community Health Partnership of Mercer County, Elite EMS, EMMCO West, Grove City Medical Center, Life Force Ambulance Service, McGonigle Ambulance Service, Mercer County Pre-hospital Care Council, Sharon Regional Health System, Shenango Valley Mall, Superior Ambulance Service, and UPMC Horizon are hosting “Save a Life Saturday- Mercer County” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Shenango Valley Mall in the main concourse.

“Save a Life Saturday-Mercer County,” open to any age, trains hands-only CPR quickly for use in emergency medical situations.

Autism conference

Academic initiative

The Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and Cleveland State University (CSU) Partnership for Urban Health have been selected to participate in the Urban Universities for HEALTH (Health Equity through Alignment, Leadership, and Transformation of the Healthcare Workforce) Learning Collaborative, a national academic initiative to investigate approaches to improve the health of urban communities by developing their health care workforce.

Also, a grant totaling more than $400,000 over a four-year period was awarded jointly by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to NEOMED and CSU in support of their partnership.

“By being a part of the Learning Collaborative, we can further our research in establishing the best practices that will drive the economy of innovation in the health care workforce across Northeast Ohio, and ultimately impact health equity in Cleveland’s urban neighborhoods,” said Jay A. Gershen, NEOMED president.
