The Workforce Development Program is an employer-based free program that teaches people the basic everyday skills needed in the workforce. Both the employer and employee benefit.

All businesses are eligible for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.

For people 18 and older who are unemployed and are at the 125 percent poverty level, and are willing to attend a four-week instructional session.

Applicants must attend an information session. Upcoming sessions are from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday and May 22 at MYCAP, 1325 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Call 330-747-7921, ext. 1190 to register.

Job skills taught include appearance, attendance and punctuality, attitude and behavior, problem solving, productivity, quality, teamwork, computer and financial literacy, networking and goal setting.

MYCAP mentors each participant for 18 months while on the job.

Participants must pass background and drug tests.
