Boardman police arrest four on drug charges

BOARDMAN — Four people are expected to be in Mahoning County Court Tuesday morning after police say they found a rolling methamphetamine lab following a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

The four, who are being held in the Mahoning County Jail pending their arraignments, are: Joshua Curry, 20, of Briggs Road in Leavittsburg; Anthony Smith, 25, of Gillmer Road in Leavittsburg; Phylicia Chalker, 22, of Robert Street in Vienna; and Donny Thompson, 22, of Fenton Street in Niles. They each face one charge of possession of one or more chemicals used in the manufacture of a schedule 1 drug. Thompson, the driver faces an additional count of driving under suspension.

They were arrested following a traffic stop about 2 a.m. on Boardman-Canfield Road near Hitchcock Road after their car was spotted weaving from side to side and had no rear license plate light. Police reports also said the car matched the description of one that eluded an officer who tried to pull a car over two weeks ago.

Inside the car police found materials used to make methamphetamine, including cold medicine, brake cleaner, starter fluid and a pill grinder.
