The Mahoning Valley Safety Council’s annual Safety Leadership Awards Luncheon will be from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market St.

The winner of the Joan Kovach Safety Leadership Award, which recognizes individuals or companies that have distinguished themselves as safety leaders in the Valley business community, will be announced.

Companies vying for the award are Boak and Sons, Austintown; Magna Seating – Lordstown Seating Systems, Lordstown; and Steel & Alloy Utility Products, McDonald.

In addition, the safety council and the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Comp Youngstown Service Office will honor 81 local companies for excellent and improved claims records in 2012.

Dale Hamilton, BWC chief operating officer, will keynote the event. As COO, Hamilton oversees the BWC’s Medical Services, IT, Employer Services, Field Operations and Safety & Hygiene divisions.

This program has been approved for one credit hour towards the PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification.

Cost is $20 for Chamber members and $30 for nonmembers.
