“Angry Tears,” the movie, will be filming in the Mahoning Valley in May, and extras are needed. Call Earline Gilford at 330-423-9353 to participate. Filming will take place each Saturday throughout May as well as June 1.

“A Bagful of Fables,SDRq directed by Brianne Samson of the Maestro Arts Studio in Warren, for the Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre’s Summer Library Tour, auditions noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane. Children of all ages are needed for the family-friendly play that presents a selection of Aesop’s fables in a new light. Auditionees should be prepared to read from the script and bring a current photograph. Performances will be in July and August at several Mahoning County library branches, as well as at the Youngstown Playhouse. Call 330-788-8739.

“Sparky ... From Chicago,” by J.E. Ballantyne Jr., Victorian Players and J&B Production Arts Services, Victorian Players Theater, 702 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, auditions at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. The play examines the activities of Jack Ruby on the weekend of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963. Jack Ruby has been cast. Roles are available for men and women between age 20 and 60. Auditionees should be prepared to read from a script. The play is the second of three works at the Victorian Theater exploring the assassination of JFK. Rehearsals will begin in June. The production will run July 19-Aug. 4. 330-799-6176.

“Hairspray,SDLq directed by John Zamarelli, Salem Community Theatre, 490 E. State St., Salem, auditions at 7 p.m. May 19 and 20. Actors, singers and dancers, age 16 and over, and several adult roles are needed. The play has a multiracial theme, and several African-American and/or Hispanic actors and actresses are needed. Auditionees should prepare a vocal selection; the preferred method is to take sheet music for the accompanist, but a CD player will be supplied for those who need to sing with a background track. Performing a song from “Hairspray” is acceptable but not necessary. Be prepared to read from a script, interact with other actors, and bring comfortable dancing shoes for choreography auditions.
