POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

April 29

Identity theft: A Navajo Place woman reported $500 stolen from her debit-card account.

May 1

Dog bite: A dog bit a man walking his dog on Hummingbird Lane.

Identity theft: A Highland Avenue woman reported receiving a $515 bill to a utility account she never opened.

May 3

Criminal mischief: Fifty support wires were damaged in the 5300 block of Arrel Road.

BOARDMAN

May 1

Menacing: A township man told police an agitated driver threatened to harm him after their vehicles nearly collided in the 7200 block of Market Street.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke a garage window to a home in the 600 block of Oakridge Drive, though it appeared nothing was missing.

Theft: Justin G. Stone, 27, of 1116 Ohio Ave., McDonald, was charged with stealing a $300 wireless sound system from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.

Aggravated menacing: A man from Hunterstown, Ind., told authorities another man threatened to kill him when the accuser picked up his children at a Sabrina Drive residence.

Theft: A 17-year-old Boardman girl reported prescription medication stolen from her vehicle in the 400 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Burglary: To a home in the 6600 block of Applewood Boulevard via a garage door. Three flat-screen TVs were removed.

Theft: Someone stole a $900 iPhone from a counter at a Southern Park Mall store.

Theft: A Girard woman discovered her cellphone missing while at the Southern Park Mall.

Drugs: Authorities at the Trumbull County Jail arrested 36-year-old Cynthia Northcott, 605 Trumbull Ave., Girard, on township warrants charging one count each of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. The charges were related to a February drug overdose at a Trenholm Road residence, police said.

Drugs: Officers responded to a possible domestic dispute in the 100 block of Beechwood Drive, where a Stantonville, Tenn., woman reportedly handed them two folded papers containing suspected cocaine she had found at a Youngstown residence. Previously, the woman asked police to conduct a welfare check regarding her daughter at the address, a report showed.

Harassment: An Overhill Drive woman said her stepfather in North Carolina has sent her an ongoing series of unwanted text messages.

Theft: A township woman noticed her iPhone missing while at a Boardman-Canfield Road store.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Market Street resulted in 37-year-old Lawrence P. Gentile Jr.’s arrest on a felony drug-possession charge. Gentile, of 1850 Sequoya Drive, Youngstown, had a 30-milligram painkiller in a plastic bag, a report showed.

Arrest: Police in the 6900 block of Glenwood Avenue picked up a 16-year-old township boy wanted on an apprehension order from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown. The original charge was aggravated robbery.

Theft: A Youngstown man reported his wallet missing at a Boardman-Poland Road big-box store.

Menacing: A man told authorities a woman came to his place of employment on Windham Court, tossed some of his belongings in a parking lot and threatened to kill him if he failed to leave the state.

Drugs: Officers pulled over 39-year-old Brian A. Grebenz on Glenwood Avenue and charged him with possession of drug-abuse instruments after saying he had a syringe. Grebenz, of 62 Forest Garden Drive, Boardman, also was wanted on a burglary warrant from New Castle, Pa.

May 3

Domestic violence: Youngstown police handed to township officers 35-year-old Daniel J. Ifft, 215 Omar St., Struthers, who was wanted on a warrant. An Erie Street woman alleged Ifft had threatened to shoot her if she called authorities during an argument about their daughter.

Arrest: Police apprehended Korey A. Koran of 4848 Grover Drive, Boardman, then charged him with one felony count of fleeing and eluding after saying Koran, 21, had led officers on a vehicular pursuit that ended when he lost control of his car, which grazed an apartment building in the 4400 block of South Avenue. Koran also was cited on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

May 4

Domestic violence: Kyle C. Johnson, 25, of 363 W. Chalmers Ave., Youngstown, was charged with the crime after an Aravesta Avenue woman alleged Johnson had struck her face, pushed her in the forehead and grabbed her left wrist during an argument regarding their child.

Drugs: After seeing what appeared to be a drug transaction in the 5100 block of Market Street, police charged Kenneth W. Hogue Jr., 18, of 125 Euclid Blvd., Liberty, with two drug-possession counts after saying he had several individual pills. Also, authorities cited 18-year-old Jodice A. Bowers, 1100 Keefer Road, Girard, on a marijuana-possession charge.

Felonious assault: Police responded to a domestic situation in the 1800 block of Boardman-Canfield Road, then charged 46-year-old Paula A. Brisson of Alliance with felonious assault and domestic violence after her boyfriend alleged Brisson had intentionally struck him with her car during an argument. Authorities found the accuser under the front of the vehicle unresponsive, a report said.

Arrest: Police arrested 23-year-old Lyndi A. Zolnai at a Market Street motel after learning the Lorain woman was wanted on a warrant from Lorain County accusing her of contempt of court pertaining to a burglary charge. Zolnai also was issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging possession of drug paraphernalia.

May 5

Arrest: Officers dealt with an unwanted person in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court before taking into custody 24-year-old Leonard T. Smith, 1216 Kimmel St., Youngstown, on a charge of failure to appear in court. The original charge was criminal damaging.

Theft: Victoria M. Lewis, 20, of 431 Ferndale Ave., Youngstown, along with a 16-year-old Campbell girl, were charged in the theft of $250 worth of clothing from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road. Lewis also was charged with possession of dangerous drugs when, police said, she had a bag containing 10 unmarked pills for which she admitted having no prescription.

Arrest: Police booked 28-year-old Joseph R. Eickleberry, no address given, who was wanted on a Harrison County, Ohio, warrant accusing him of failing to appear for a court hearing pertaining to making court-ordered child-support payments.
