FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


THURSDAY

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. Ext., North Lima, will have its monthly drive-through chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. Dinners consist of stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie for $6. Drive up to the door, and your dinners will be taken to your car. A portion of the profits are used for mission projects.

Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $7 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

VFW Triangle Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12; carryouts are $6.25. The menu includes meatballs, salad, Italian bread and coffee or tea.

FRIDAY

Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $5 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. A limited supply of frozen pirogi will be available. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available. The final sale of the season will be May 17.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday or 9:30 to 11 Friday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available at 11 a.m.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Cost is $6 per dozen. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday; no containers are necessary. Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome. Final sale of the season will be May 24.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $5.50 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are available. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

SATURDAY

Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna, will serve homemade spaghetti dinners from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Dinners will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, dessert and a beverage. Takeouts will be available. Prices are $8 for adults and $4 for kids 5 to 12. Those 4 and under eat free. For information call the parish hall at 330-856-2597.

SUNDAY

VFW Post 2799 Ladies Auxiliary, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will sponsor a Mother’s Day homestyle breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. The meal comprises eggs, hash brown potatoes, sausage or ham, pancakes or freedom toast, toast, and coffee or tea. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

TAKING ORDERS

First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Church Hill Road, is taking orders for 15-inch homemade pepperoni rolls for $7 each, potato soup and chicken noodle soup for $5 per quart and $3 per pint and fresh-baked bread for $1.50 a loaf. Order by calling 330-647-7515 by May 16. Pick up May 18 at the church between 3 and 4:30 p.m.

UPCOMING

Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., will have its annual Kentucky Mountain Dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 18. The cost is $8.50 for adults and $5.50 for children 3 to 12. On the menu are sweet potato casserole, honey-baked ham, corn bread, green beans, creamed chicken over homemade biscuits and cobbler or brown derby pie. Carryout is available; preorder by calling 330-637-2571. Proceeds will benefit the Red Bird Mission Team.

Historic Lutheran Church of St. John, 1429 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, adjacent to Fellows Riverside Gardens, will serve all-you-can-eat pasta dinners from noon until the food runs out May 19 in Colonial Hall. The meal includes Italian sauce, meatballs, tossed salad, Italian bread, beverage and dessert. The donation is $6.95 for adults and free for children up to 5. St. John’s Men’s Club will serve. Holy Apostles Parish of Sts. Peter and Paul Church social hall, 421 Covington Ave., Youngstown, will be the location of the chicken barbecue dinner on the spit from noon to 3 p.m. May 19. Call for tickets by Sunday at 330-797-9739 or the church office at 330-743-1905. Tickets for adults cost $10 and for children 10 and under cost $5. The menu for adults comprises one-half chicken, salad, green beans, potatoes, bread and butter, dessert, and coffee, tea, iced tea or lemonade. Children’s portion is one-quarter chicken. Tickets sales are in advance only, and carryouts will be available.
