The sixth annual Survivors of Suicide Awareness Walk in memory of loved ones who died by suicide is from 2 to 4 p.m. May 18 at the Trumbull County Courthouse Gazebo, Courthouse Square.

The event is sponsored by Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide (LOSS); Help Hotline Crisis Center, Inc.; and Survivors of Suicide (SOS) of Mahoning and Columbiana Counties.

Conference planned

HOWLAND

Bishop F. Josephus Johnson, well-known speaker, author, teacher and pastor, is the featured speaker for the Strengthening the Family Conference on May 17 and 18 at the Magnuson Grand Hotel and Conference Center (formerly The Avalon Inn), 9519 E. Market St., Howland.

The May 17 banquet is at 6 p.m. followed by Rev. Johnson’s address. On May 18, there will be break-out sessions for singles; parents, grandparents and guardians; blended families; teens; and pastors and ministry leaders.

The $35-per-person cost includes the banquet, a continental breakfast on Saturday, and the breakout sessions.

Arthritis seminar

DAMASCUS

Orthopedic specialists, Drs. David Mungo and Michael Necci of the Alliance Institute of Musculoskeletal Medicine (AIMM), are offering a free arthritis treatment seminar from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 13 at Damascus Friends Church, 28857 Walnut St., Damascus. Light refreshments will be served after the program.

Dr. Mungo will discuss knee arthritis and treatment options, and Dr. Necci will talk about hip arthritis treatment.

The seminar is sponsored by Alliance Community Hospital, Auburn Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation (formerly Pleasant View North Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation) in Damascus, Senior Independence Home Healthcare and Hospice, and Salem Community Hospital.

Film on epilepsy

CLEVELAND

The Cleveland Clinic Epilepsy Center invites the community to attend a showing of “On The Edge: Living with Epilepsy,” a documentary film that takes viewers inside the lives of epilepsy patients.

The showing of the film, made by Louis Stanislaw, a Cleveland Clinic patient who studied filmmaking at Oberlin College and at The International Film School of Paris, is at 7 p.m. May 14 at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, Bunts Auditorium (TT building) 9500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland.

A panel discussion will occur after the film featuring Epilepsy Center physicians and Stanislaw.

A cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m.

The Home Savings Charitable Foundation donated $2,500 to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, 2805 Salt Springs Road, to help support two Mobile Pantry programs in rural Trumbull County.

Covelli Enterprises recently presented $12,000 to the Rich Center for Autism, the proceeds of Covelli’s Pieces of Hope cookie campaign.
