CANFIELD CITY
April 17
Telecommunications harassment: The crime was reported at a home in the 200 block of Russo Drive. A man told police his wife was getting harassing voice messages on her phone.
April 18
Warrant: James Riley, 56, of 4029 Riverside Drive, Youngstown, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in mayor’s court.
April 20
Drug abuse: John Liszka, 21, of 61 Sawmill Run, Canfield, was arrested on charges of drug abuse and drug paraphernalia.
April 27
Drug abuse: Joseph Herns, 27, of 47 N. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, was arrested on charges of drug abuse and drug paraphernalia and Sarah Stone, 29, of 553 Moherman St., Youngstown, was arrested on a charge of drug abuse.
Drug trafficking: Kenneth Adams, 29, of 821 East 4th St., Salem, was charged with trafficking in drugs.
AUSTINTOWN
April 22
Criminal damaging: A window was broken out of a vehicle on London Drive.
Auto theft: A vehicle was stolen and then involved in an accident in the 900 block of Compass West.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged at Austintown Fitch High School, 4560 Falcon Drive.
Theft: Sandra Ducksworth, 55, of 422 S. Princeton Ave., Youngstown, was issued a summons, accused of shoplifting baby products at Rite Aid, 5498 Mahoning Ave.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged in the 40 block of North Canfield-Niles Road.
Burglary: Roy Hansen, 37, of 5400 Mechanicsville Road, Rome, was arrested on a warrant for burglary.
Theft: An employee’s cellphone was taken at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.
April 23
Theft: A cellphone was stolen at Bill’s Place, 4771 Mahoning Ave.
Criminal damaging: A mailbox was damaged at a home in the 500 block of New Road.
Burglary: Video-game consoles and games were taken at a home in the 2000 block of Elm Trace Street.
Theft : A makeup case with three prescription bottles was stolen at a home in the 3000 block of Eigen Street.
Theft: Video games were stolen at a home in the 100 block of South Main Street.
Theft: A gold Masonic ring was stolen at the Hampton Inn, 880 North Canfield-Niles Road.
Illegal dumping: Garbage bags were added to a resident’s trash collection at a home in the 300 block of Rosemont Avenue.
April 24
Identity theft: A fraudulent account was created at a home in the 2000 block of Idlewood Road.
Aggravated burglary: A safe was taken from the basement of a home in the 4000 block of Pine Trace Drive.
Theft: Mark Verostko, 19, of 4525 New Hampshire Circle, No. 10, Youngstown, was released on a summons for theft of a digital converter at Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave.
Telecommunications harassment: There is a suspect in telecommunications harassment at a home in the 100 block of Westminster Avenue.
Recovered property: A men’s wallet was recovered at KFC, 4642 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A 12-pack of Corona beer was stolen at Sheetz, 5499 Mahoning Ave.
April 25
Domestic violence: Donald Moke, 46, of 414 Brown St., Niles was arrested in connection with domestic violence.
Theft: Two ATM withdrawals were made against another’s account at a home in the 5000 block of Yorktown Lane.
Burglary: A Samsung Galaxy tablet was taken at a home in the 4000 block of Deer Creek Court.
Telecommunications harassment: There is a suspect in telecommunications harassment at a home in the 3000 block of Monaca Avenue.
Drug offense: Thomas Emler, 20, of 4918 E. Radio Road, Austintown, was issued a summons for drug abuse of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Disorderly conduct: Ashley Santiago, 24,of 40 N. Osborne Ave., Youngstown, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct.
April 26
Fraud: Unauthorized charges were made to an account at a home in the 3000 block of East Street.
Theft: An auto was broken into in the 5000 block of Interstate Boulevard.
Warrant: Brandice Shaffer, 32, of 39 Halls Heights Ave., Youngstown, was arrested on a warrant for receiving stolen property.
Theft: Patricia Robbins, 49, of 175 Rhoda Ave., Youngstown was released on a summons, accused of theft of $39.34 in merchandise at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.
Weapons offense: Dylan Samargia, 21, of 273 Westminster Ave., was arrested on a charge of drug abuse of marijuana and improper handling of a firearm, a handgun, and a loaded magazine in the rear of the vehicle.
April 27
Telecommunications harassment: An unwanted text was reported at a home in the 3000 block of Idlewood Road.
Telecommunications harassment: A woman was the victim of telecommunications harassment at a home in the 2000 block of South Raccoon Road.
Warrant: Aimee Beelen, 27,of 2520 South Raccoon Road, was arrested on a warrant for contempt of court.
Telecommunications harassment: A son was making harassing phone calls at a home in the 200 block of Westminster Avenue.
Warrant: Anthony Barbero, 32, homeless, was arrested on a warrant, for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and criminal trespassing.
April 28
Counterfeit currency: Two counterfeit $20 bills were found in the parking lot at Walmart.
Theft: A registration sticker was stolen from an auto at a home in the 4000 block of Burkey Road.
Drug offense: Michael Zandarski, 25, of 325 N. Turner Road, was arrested on charges of possession of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.
Burglary: An LCD television was stolen from a home in the 10 block of Peggy Lane.
POLAND
April 25
Theft: A woman reported numerous pieces of jewelry stolen from her home in the 5000 block of Center Road. The loss was estimated at $1,595.
April 26
Littering: A report was filed in the 2300 block of Knollwood Avenue.
April 28
Arrest: A traffic stop in the 5500 block of Center Road led to the arrest of 37-year-old James A. Huff, 45348 state Route 558, New Waterford, on charges of driving under suspension and violating a protection order.
BOARDMAN
April 25
Burglary: To a residence in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court through the front door. Thirteen pieces of assorted jewelry were taken.
Theft: A man in a Pittsburgh Steelers jacket was caught on a surveillance camera stealing a $650 vacuum cleaner from hhGregg, 441 Boardman-Poland Road.
Arrest: Authorities responded to a fight on Sciota Avenue before charging 67-year-old Robert L. Gamberale, 2048 Bishop Woods Court, Poland, with two counts of assault and one each of carrying a concealed weapon and criminal mischief after a woman alleged Gamberale had tried to repossess her car, citing late payments. The woman refused to comply because he had no paperwork or tow truck, at which time he assaulted her before punching a second woman’s nose as she aided the accuser, a report states. Gamberale also failed to inform police he had a loaded .380-caliber firearm, they said.
Criminal damaging: A rock was used to damage an apartment’s front window in the 60 block of Shields Road.
Theft: A North Lima man discovered his $150 cellphone missing while at a McClurg Road business.
Attempted fraud: An elderly Mathews Road woman reported a man called claiming to be her grandson in jail and needed $2,000. The woman was suspicious of the call and lost no money.
Theft: An employee with a South Avenue health-care facility reported a resident’s purse and $200 were stolen from her.
Identity fraud: A Lockwood Boulevard woman told officers a collection agency called stating she owes $1,000 in unpaid bills to a satellite-dish company from an account in Philadelphia she had never opened.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke a front window to a business in the 5300 block of Market Street and apparently unlocked the door from the inside, though nothing appeared to be missing.
April 26
Theft: Police charged 31-year-old Erica M. Lough, 2654 Bristol-Champion Trail, Bristolville, after two Sony PlayStation 3 controllers were stolen in September from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: Shakeyia J. Smith, 18, of 120 Greeley Lane, Youngstown, was charged with taking a $35 pair of jeans from Dillards in Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A woman discovered her 9-pound dog had been stolen from her Shields Road apartment.
Arrest: Officers arrested 21-year-old Darrell Webster Jr., at his residence, 269 Erskine Ave., Boardman, on a charge of obstructing official business. Webster, who also was cited on a marijuana-possession charge, interfered with several investigations of residential burglaries and thefts from vehicles, a report showed.
Theft: Jamie S. Schmitt, 34, of 207 Royal Mall Drive, Niles, was charged with theft, and Verdarell L. Lowery, 42, who listed Boardman and Warren addresses, with receiving stolen property after three pairs of eyeglasses were stolen from America’s Best Eyeglasses, 439 Boardman-Poland Road. Lowery also was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Theft: An Erskine Avenue man reported a laptop computer, a hand-held gaming device, three video games and $20 missing from a bedroom.
Theft: A North Huntington, Pa., man reported a $600 laptop computer missing from his room at a South Avenue motel.
April 27
Arrest: A traffic stop in the 800 block of East Midlothian Boulevard led to the arrest of James E. Ward, 30, who listed Austintown and Youngstown addresses. He was wanted on a probation-violation warrant.
Theft: Erich W. Henkel, 29, of 624 Cherry St., Salem, was charged in the theft of five DVDs from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Arrest: Officers took 30-year-old Alejandro S. Martinez into custody at his home, 7479 Oregon Trail, Boardman. Martinez was wanted on a bench warrant from Struthers Municipal Court charging failure to appear in court.
Robbery: Authorities charged Michelle L. O’Donahue, 39, of 7165 Locust Ave., Boardman, with robbery, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia after about $255 worth of food and craft supplies was stolen from Giant Eagle, 1200 Doral Drive. A worker alleged that as she fled, O’Donahue intentionally struck his right knee with the front of her vehicle.
Arrest: Authorities approached a suspicious car near West Boulevard before citing 66-year-old David W. Kaster, 764 Brookfield Ave., Boardman, on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and marijuana possession.
Theft: Maurice D. McCain, 39, and Priscilla F. McCain, 44, both of 339 Breaden St., Youngstown, were charged with stealing 14 household products from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave. The younger McCain also was charged with receiving stolen property after police said he had two bottles of vodka that had been taken from another store.
April 28
Theft: Two women left Denny’s Restaurant, 154 Boardman- Canfield Road, and failed to pay their $43.13 food bill.
Arrest: A traffic stop near Lockwood Boulevard resulted in 49-year-old Bradley P. Shultzaberger’s arrest. Shultzaberger, of 4134 Shelby Road, Youngstown, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.
Domestic violence: Authorities charged 28-year-old Brandon L. Batton, 3908 Loma Vista Drive, Boardman, with the crime after his wife alleged Batton had pushed her to the floor and choked her. The accuser had no visible injuries, however, police said.
Theft: Two women stole 10 to 15 items from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.
Assault: A Salem man told officers another man spit on him in the Southern Park Mall parking lot regarding a parking space.
Theft: A woman accidentally left her purse at a Boardman-Poland Road department store and returned to find it missing.
Domestic violence: Authorities in Columbiana took into custody 26-year-old David L. Spencer Jr., 1386 Kibler Road, New Waterford, who was wanted on a warrant. His girlfriend, of Boardman, alleged an intoxicated Spencer had struck her rib cage with his right knee during an argument.
Theft: A $200 bicycle was stolen in the 7300 block of Sierra Madre Trail.
Theft: Caroline E. Tirone of 3337 Loveland Road, Youngstown, faced charges of theft and resisting arrest after 17 children’s items were stolen from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave. The 26-year-old Tirone briefly struggled with police, they said.
Criminal damaging: A screen-door glass panel was destroyed at a home in the 50 block of Spring Garden Court.
Theft: A man stole a $280 Bluetooth headset from AT&T, 650 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: A girl reportedly stole eight items valued at $55 from Target, though the store refused to pursue charges.
April 29
Theft: Police in the 7100 block of Tiffany Boulevard picked up 21-year-old Ryan L. Palm, 2128 Robbins Ave., Niles, who was wanted on three warrants, including in the theft of $456 worth of T-shirts and shorts from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 100 block of Mathews Road and removed a $900 mini-motorcycle.
