Arrest of actress caught on video

ATLANTA

A dash-cam video of Reese Witherspoon’s recent disorderly-conduct arrest provides a rare glimpse of one of Hollywood’s best-known actresses unfiltered as she, after “one too many” glasses of wine, takes on a no-nonsense Georgia state trooper following her husband’s traffic stop.

In video of the April 19 early-morning incident in Atlanta, posted Thursday by the website TMZ, the 37-year-old actress seeks to intercede as her husband is being administered a field sobriety test by the trooper.

Trooper First Class J. Pyland tells Witherspoon to stay in the couple’s vehicle no fewer than five times. For her part, Witherspoon is equally determined to get out and engage him, even at one point feigning to be pregnant and saying she needs to use the bathroom.

Usher will play boxer Sugar Ray Leonard

NEW ORLEANS

Grammy-winning singer Usher is stepping into the boxing ring to portray Sugar Ray Leonard in the new film “Hands of Stone.”

Usher says he has spent more than a year preparing to play Leonard, who was known for his fast hands, quick feet and wide smile.

The film is based on the story of boxing great Roberto Duran. He rose from the slums of Panama to become a world champion in four weight divisions. Duran’s rivalry with Leonard included three bouts. The most infamous was the “no mas” fight.

Robert De Niro will star as Duran’s Hall of Famer trainer, Ray Arcel.

Filming is scheduled to begin in Panama in October.

Lohan enters rehab at Betty Ford Center

LOS ANGELES

Lindsay Lohan has checked into a rehab and will not face a probation violation for leaving another treatment facility after a few minutes, a prosecutor said Friday.

Santa Monica Chief Deputy City Attorney Terry White said he has received confirmation that Lohan has checked in to a rehab facility, and he is satisfied with her location. He declined to say where Lohan is receiving treatment, but a source close to the actress who was not authorized to speak publicly said she has checked in to the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

The “Liz & Dick” star is required to spend 90 days in rehab as part of a plea deal in a misdemeanor case filed after a June car accident.
