Wyant excels at state gymnastics meet

Neighbors | Submitted .Emily Wyant placed eighth during the floor excercise competition at the Xcel State Championships on April 7.

Emily Wyant, a senior at Fitch High School, attended the Xcel State Championships on April 7.

Wyant placed eighth on vault and floor exercise with scores of 9.15 and 9.125, respectively.

She placed fourth on the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.10 and placed seventh on the balance beam with a score of 9.10. She placed seventh in the all-around with a total score of 36.45.

Wyant has been a member of the Ohio Gymnastics Institute for 12 years and has been on the competitive team for the past nine.

She is in the National Honor Society and currently has a 3.9 GPA. She is part of the symphonic band, a member of the Fitch golf team and the captain of the flag line.

Wyant also coaches part time at the Ohio Gymnastics Institute.

She plans to attend Youngstown State University in the fall where she has already been accepted into the nursing program.
