Art by Austintown Fitch students was on display April 15-22 in the meeting room of the Austintown library for the public. Art styles seen at the event included painting, ceramics, sketches and more.
“We have been offering the art show here at the library for about six years,” said Patti Prentiss, one of the art teachers at Fitch High School. “The library has been very gracious and very accommodating to let us use this space. It’s just the right size and it really makes having an art show for our students much easier. In our school, there isn’t really room for an art show. Here, we can set up and frame everything and it can be here for an entire week.”
Many people in the community also enjoy having the show in the library for a week.
“We have a guest book where people can sign in and write comments. Not everyone signs in and not everyone leaves comments, but the ones we get are always positive,” said Prentiss. “The librarians tell us that they have seen an increased flow of people coming to the library while we are here and many people stop and look at the art.”
