Man indicted in ATM robbery of woman and child

WARREN

Denzel D. Searcy, 18, of New Castle, Pa., and Crandall Avenue in Youngstown, has been indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury on two counts of aggravated robbery for the March 7 robbery of a woman and her 6-year-old child at an ATM machine in Liberty Township.

Liberty police said they caught Searcy and Edthaniel Tarver, 17, of Campbell after a foot chase just after the robbery.

Rich Tisone, township police chief, said the two men had just robbed a woman making a withdrawal from an ATM along Belmont with her small child in the back seat. Two guns were pointed at the woman as the thieves demanded money.

Searcy is also facing a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest in Girard Municipal Court.

Police believe Searcy and Tarver may also be responsible for other area robberies of ATM customers.

Searcy will be arraigned at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
