Billy Baldwin fights to save wrestling

Actor and wrestling advocate Billy Baldwin is hoping his notoriety and Hollywood connections can help keep the sport on the Olympic program.

Baldwin, who wrestled at Binghamton University before his acting career, has joined USA Wrestling’s Committee to Preserve Olympic Wrestling as a self-described “Hollywood point person.” The committee was formed in the wake of the IOC’s recent recommendation that wrestling be left out of the Olympics starting in 2020. Baldwin is charged with keeping the sport’s plight on the minds of the public.

Baldwin says he has enlisted Ashton Kutcher, his brother Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Mario Lopez, Mark Ruffalo and others to help.

Zeta-Jones enters mental-health facility

LOS ANGELES

A spokeswoman for Catherine Zeta-Jones says the actress has “proactively” checked into a mental-health facility for treatment of her bipolar condition.

Publicist Sarah Fuller said in an email to The Associated Press on Monday that Zeta-Jones “is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner.”

Two years ago, the 43-year-old Oscar winner checked into a similar facility for a brief stay for treatment of her condition, known as Bipolar II. The disorder is characterized by mood swings and depressive episodes and is commonly treated with medication and psychotherapy.

Maria Shriver will return to NBC News

Maria Shriver is coming back to NBC News.

The network announced Tuesday that Shriver will join it as a special anchor.

Shriver previously worked at NBC beginning in 1986. In 2004, she left to concentrate on her role as first lady of California when her former husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger, was governor.

Chesney starts fund to help bomb victims

NASHVILLE, Tenn.

Country star Kenny Chesney is starting a fund to help those who lost limbs in the Boston Marathon bombing.

A Tuesday news release says Chesney has established the “Spread the Love” fund with his own donation and will gift sales of his single by the same name as well. Donations will go to Boston Medical Center and other area facilities. Fans also can donate directly to the fund at bmc.org/Kenny.

Three people were killed and more than 260 injured in the April 15 attack.

Chesney co-wrote “Spread the Love” with The Wailers. It appears on his new album “Life on a Rock,” out this week.
