All Rise America tour to stop in Youngstown

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The National Association of Drug Court Professionals will be in Youngstown on May 24 to help promote the use and success rates of treatment centers for drug addicts.

It’s the second-annual event and consists of a 3,500-mile cross-country RV tour.

Youngstown is one of 25 communities the tour will visit.

The mission is to prove that those who are addicted should be in treatment centers rather than prison and that drug, DUI and Veterans Treatment courts do work.

The Youngstown event starts at noon and will consist of a parade and rally, which will feature events at area treatment courts while highlighting personal stories.

A gavel will be passed along at each stop, symbol- izing that when one person recovers and rises from addiction, everyone will rise.

“Now more than ever, lawmakers are looking for evidence-based solutions to the expensive and tragic problem of drug abuse and related crime,” NADCP CEO West Huddleston said in a release.

The tour began Monday in Santa Maria, Calif., and will conclude with a graduation ceremony in New York City on May 31.
