Kanotz provides the offense as Canfield stays undefeated



The Cardinals blanked Niles, 2-0, for their fifth straight win.
CANFIELD -- John Kanotz provided all the scoring as the Canfield High boys soccer team shut out Niles 2-0 Thursday in a Metro Athletic Conference game.
Ryan Konik and David Kanotz each had an assist for the unbeaten Cardinals (5-0, 4-0 MAC).
Canfield had 19 shots on goal compared to eight for the Red Dragons.
The Cardinals' goalkeepers, Eric Clayton and John Congello, combined for eight saves.
Howland 1, Poland 0
POLAND -- Sophomore Eric Albani scored on a penalty kick with 11 minutes, 8 seconds remaining in the game.
Paul Burley had one save for the Tigers (4-1, 3-0 MAC).
Thomas Lange had nine saves for the Bulldogs (0-3-1, 0-2-1), who lost on a penalty kick for the second time this week.
JVs: Howland 1-0.
Fitch 4, Harding 0
AUSTINTOWN -- Brad Hrinko had two goals, while junior forward Andy Kollar and sophomore midfielder Nick Bowlen had one each for Fitch (4-0).
Hrinko, a senior forward, has 10 goals and 10 assists this season.
Goalie Joe Sebaugh had eight saves for Fitch, which attempted 30 shots to Harding's eight.

Lakeview 2, Newton Falls 0
NEWTON FALLS -- Jon Mullins and Neal Ormerod each scored a goal for the Bulldogs (5-0-1, 3-0 Trumbull Athletic Conference). Nick Shuller and Anthony Margala had an assist apiece. Greg Pecorelli, ad nine saves.
Kurt Ellis, had 14 saves for the Tigers (3-2-1, 2-1).
Lordstown 6, Bristol 3
LORDSTOWN -- Lordstown's early 2-0 lead was reduced to a 2-2 tie by Bristol at halftime, but Ryan Pal's goal early in the second half put the Red Devils ahead for good.
German exchange student Julian Arciszewski, a junior forward, had three goals, while Pal, also a junior forward, finished with two goals. Junior midfielder Tykie Theofilos scored another goal for Lordstown (3-1, 2-1 Northeastern Athletic Conference).
For Bristol (4-3, 1-1), senior captain Eric Maraczi had two goals while Tim Merlino had one.
Lordstown goalie Hobie Platt had 11 saves, while Joe Zaler stopped 17 shots for Bristol.
Girls
AUSTINTOWN -- Kristi Cooper had four goals, while sister Kara Cooper and Alyssa Rojas each added three goals for Youngstown Christian (2-2) in a 14-1 win over Fuchs Mizrachi.
Dami Oshonowa, Amanda Vestal, Kayla LaGamba and Arielle Flores had single goals for the Eagles, who had a 6-0 lead before Hannah Rosenblum scored for Fuchs Mizrachi (0-2).
Youngstown, which had 46 shots on goal, got six saves from goalie Kara Cooper in the second half.
Lakeview 10, Liberty 0
CORTLAND -- Juniors Nikki Bevilacqua, Paige Poulis and Carly Chordas had two goals, while Bri Yocum, Kylie Mathews, Alli Nero and Chelsea Baker had one goal for Lakeview.
Nero had two assists, while Jen Baker, Bevilacqua and Jenna Germano each had one assist for the Bulldogs (5-0-2, 3-0-1 TAC).
