Conversation Salons planned at libraries

YOUNGSTOWN -- Conversation Salons held by the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will begin a third year in September at Main Library and the Austintown, Boardman and Poland branches.
The salons are free and open to senior citizens who welcome the opportunity to engage in discussion on topics of mutual interest, library officials said.
Salon participants choose the topics. All seniors in attendance are encouraged to participate in the discussion and express their opinions or relate their experiences and ideas on the selected subject. No political positions are taken.
The salons provide an opportunity for seniors to connect with others in their community, to have good conversation among the participants, and to engage in exploration of new ideas in open discussion, officials said.
Seniors age 55 or older are invited to join. Walk-ins are welcome.
Conversation Salon start-up dates are:
Boardman Library, 2-4 p.m., Sept. 12.
Main Library, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Sept. 19.
