Lakeview pulls away to beat Brookfield



The Bulldogs used a third quarter spurt to post a 66-46 win.
CORTLAND -- Lakeview High, ahead 33-29 at the intermission, pulled away with a 13-7 spurt in the third quarter and went on to defeat Brookfield, 66-46, in a Trumbull Athletic Conference boys basketball game Friday night.
Ed Mackiewicz paced the Bulldogs (9-4, 5-2 TAC) with 17 points. Dustin Opalka added 14 and he grabbed nine rebounds. Lakeview enjoyed a 36-20 rebounding advantage.
Cory Richards led the Warriors (3-10, 1-6) with 20 points.
Hubbard 62, Champion 48
HUBBARD -- Frank Rosile led the Eagles' attack with 14 points.
Marc Kanetsky scored 13 points, Andrew DeJulio added 11 and Corey Hitt had 10 for Hubbard (5-7, 4-3 TAC).
For the Golden Flashes (5-7, 2-5), Mark Jackson scored 23 points and Tyler Kish hit for 11.
Girard 32, Newton Falls 26
GIRARD -- David Culp and Brett Cubellis each scored eight points for the Indians (2-11, 2-5) in the low-scoring TAC contest.
For the Tigers (4-9, 2-5), Brian Knoske scored six points.
Lordstown 80, Bloomfield 41
LORDSTOWN -- Four Red Devils scored in double figures: Nate Rach 12, Brandon Wickline 12, Zach Sutcliff 11 and Jake Dieugenio 11.
The Red Devils (6-7, 5-4 Northeast Athletic Conference) led 45-17 at halftime.
