YOUNGSTOWN -- A National Signing Day edition of "Penguin Playbook with Coach Jon Heacock" will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Youngstown Sports Grille.
The event will be carried live on WKBN-AM 570.
Sports director Jim Campbell will host the show along with Penguins coach Jon Heacock. Broadcasters Bob Hannon and Robb Schmidt will also attend. All fans in attendance will receive a free general-admission ticket to the YSU men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Feb. 2 at Beeghly Center.

Souper Bowl
SHARON, Pa. -- Jon Kolb, who helped the Pittsburgh Steelers win the 1979 Super Bowl, will join teenagers at the Souper Bowl of Caring's advance tailgate party at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at Sharon United Methodist Church.
Teens armed with giant soup pots will be collecting one dollar bills in efforts to transform Super Bowl Sunday into the nation's largest youth-led day of giving.
Youngstown bowling HOF committee
YOUNGSTOWN -- John Beene has been elected to chair the 2006 Youngstown Bowling Association Hall of Fame selection committee.
Permanent board members are: Russ Turner (vice-chairman), Andy Chicase (secretary), John Bossone, Jack Carter, Joe Haus, Jackie Martin, Ted Bundy, Jack Kechler and Bill Thompson (honorary member). Outside members are Peppe Smith of Camelot and Mike Dworak of Wedgewood. Bowler representatives are Mike Yurco, Ralph Hessman, Ray Bakes, Dan Donatelli Sr. and Tim Graham.
The last day to submit applications for hall of fame candidates is March 13.
Forms are available at area bowling establishments and at the YBA office at 7255 Glendale Ave. in Boardman.
The YBA hall of fame class will be elected on April 29 and selections will be honored at the annual hall of fame and awards dinner on June 11 at the ITAM Centre.
Bowling tournament
YOUNGSTOWN -- Kay Lanes rolled 3593 to lead the upper division (1000 average or higher) of the team event of the 74th annual Youngstown Bowling Association's city bowling tournament through Jan. 22.
Kay's team comprised Mike Lepor, Mickey Kay, Dan Holmes, Tom Olesky and Mike Mikulich. Bowladrome Lanes (3486) was second and C & amp; G Pro Shop (3418) third.
In the lower division (999-under), Korner Restaurant of Glen Powell, Ray Bakes, Greg Hartman, Jason Carnahan and Chuck Hurd was leading with 3439. Bell-Wick Bowl (3421) was second and Amer's Hobby Shop (3318) third.
In the doubles event's upper division (400 average & amp; higher), Paul Keller-Chris Bletso had 1496, Rick Spatara-Sam Fisher (1474) and Matt Clipse-Dino Balkan 1471.
Oscar Lund and David Margala led the lower division (399 average and lower) with 1491, while Rick Erwin-Mark McCloskey (1470) were second and R. Hedrick Sr.-R. Hedrick Jr. (1428) third.
Fred White's 777 was tops in the singles event's upper division (200 average & amp; higher), while Jerry Mariotti (773) and Chris Bletso (767) trailed.
In the lower division (199 average & amp; lower), Rick Hedrick Jr. had 791, followed by Joseph Corbi's 786 and John Beene's 769.

Penguins trade
PITTSBURGH -- The Penguins acquired forward Jani Rita and defenseman Cory Cross from the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday in exchange for defenseman Dick Tarnstrom.
The 24-year-old Rita had three goals in 21 games with the Oilers this season. The 6-foot-1, 206-pounder was a first-round draft pick in 1999. He has six goals and one assist in 36 career NHL games.
A 12-year NHL veteran, the 35-year-old Cross had two goals and three assists in 34 games this season. He has 33 goals and 95 assists in 637 career NHL games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and Oilers.
Tarnstrom, 31, had five goals and five assists in 33 games with the Penguins. He has 31 goals and 91 assists in 236 NHL games with Pittsburgh and the New York Islanders. The Penguins claimed him off waivers in 2002.
Steelers celebration
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College campus will celebrate the Steelers' trip to Super Bowl XL with Black & amp; Gold Friday and a campus-wide black-and-gold photo at 3 p.m. in the Student Union.
"With 2,300 students and more than 400 employees, we're looking forward to a great turnout for the picture," said Dr. Jean-Noel Thompson, vice president for Student Life and Learning. "Many students were wearing their jerseys the day after the AFC Championship and Super Bowl excitement is growing."
While students were on Christmas break, Grove City College staff members rallied during the playoffs with Black & amp; Gold Fridays.
