Man convicted of violence for fifth time

YOUNGSTOWN -- Michael Crytzer has been convicted a fifth time of domestic violence against a woman with whom he had a 12-year relationship.
Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court sentenced Crytzer, 31, of Broadway, to one year in prison for domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony. He will receive credit for 140 days already served in the county jail.
This was Crytzer's first felony offense. He served jail time and received probation for earlier offenses after pleading guilty to reduced charges in Youngstown Municipal Court, said Dawn Krueger, an assistant county prosecutor, at Tuesday's sentencing hearing.
Defense Atty. Michael Gollings said Crytzer has been attending anger management and substance abuse classes while he has been in jail.
Crytzer told Judge Krichbaum that he wants help to overcome his drinking problem. "I think you have me confused with the Red Cross," the judge replied. "I'm not here to salve your wounds; I'm here to dispense justice."
Crytzer also said his relationship with the woman has ended. The woman, who did not attend the sentencing, also said the relationship is over, Krueger said.
