BOARDMAN -- A township man accused last week of stealing from an elderly woman has been charged again with taking money from another senior in the same mobile home park.
Police charged Thomas Baulo, 47, of Melrose Avenue, with two counts of theft from the elderly Wednesday morning.
He was arrested last week on a burglary charge and is in the Mahoning County Justice Center in lieu of a $25,000 bond on that charge.
The latest victim is an 84-year-old woman who lives in Martin Mobile Home Park, 4055 South Ave.
She told police that on Jan. 3, a man, later identified as Baulo, came to her door telling her that the park manager wanted him to check her trailer. He said that her oil tank had a leak.
The woman let him inside and left the room. When she came back, he was on the telephone, and after he left, she found $230 missing from her purse.
Other charges
Baulo was charged with burglary last week involving a situation that occurred in December but was not reported until this month.
That victim, an 87-year-old woman who lives in the same South Avenue mobile home park, told police that she had forgotten to lock her door and returned to her trailer to find Baulo inside.
He asked to borrow money and when she told him she didn't have any, he asked for a drink of water. She gave him the water and when he left, she found her pocketbook was missing, containing about $100, personal documents, her glasses and photographs.
A preliminary hearing on the burglary charge is set for Feb. 14.
Baulo also is awaiting trial in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on a charge of theft by deception. In that case, he's accused of deceiving an 88-year-old Glenwood Avenue man into giving him cash and checks.
