WARREN -- The W.D. Packard Concert Band will hold a free concert to mark the retirement of Adone "Cal" Calderone, the band's executive director, at 3 p.m. Sunday at Packard Music Hall.
Dana Victor will be guest vocal soloist.
Calderone began with the Packard Band in 1955 as principal tubist. In 1982, he was appointed band contractor and librarian. He has been executive director since 2000.
Mozart lecture-recital
BOARDMAN -- In observance of the 250th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's birth, the Youngstown Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will sponsor a lecture-recital on Mozart's keyboard works at 7 p.m. Jan. 27, (the composer's birthday), at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman.
The program will be presented by guest artist Marcellene Hawk Mayhall and will feature the Mozartarian fortepiano, the modern piano and the pipe organ. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Daniel Laginya at (330) 744-5233.
Violin-piano recital
POLAND -- There will be a violin and piano duo recital at Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor Drive, at 3 p.m., Sunday. The recital will include works by Bach, Schubert, Brahms and Kreisler. The artists are Sara Rule Schaft, violin, and Caroline Oltmanns, piano.
Sara Rule Schaft currently plays in the Akron Symphony Orchestra. Previous engagements have included Syracuse and Youngstown Symphonies as well as the Cleveland Opera and Ballet Orchestras, and the Cleveland Chamber Symphony.
Pianist Caroline Oltmanns has performed extensively in Germany, France, South Africa and the United States. She is a Fulbright Scholar and International Steinway Artist. She is the associate professor of piano at Youngstown State University.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Local Fox television affiliate WYFX-17/62 has tapped author and investment adviser Jim Miller for a weekly appearance on its 10 p.m. news show, which will expand to one hour beginning Monday.
Miller has had a weekly radio show every Saturday at noon on WSOM-AM 600 in Youngstown.
The owner and founder of On Track Financial Services, L.L.C., of Columbiana, Miller regularly leads free seminars on investing wisely for retirement, and is the author of "Retire Dollar $mart."
