MARIETTA -- Kyle Karpinski and Chris Switzer led Mount Union's balanced attack. The Purple Raiders (4-10, 3-4 Ohio Conference) put four starters in double figures with the fifth, L.J. Helton, scoring nine points. Eric Fender (Poland), Josh Long and reserve Kyle Miller each scored 10 points. Craig Stewart scored 31 points for the Pioneers (3-11, 0-7), with Matt Phillips adding 13 and Matthew Rucker 11. Marietta shot 56 percent from the field, hit 14-of-30 3-pointers and had just 11 turnovers, but was outrebounded 38-23.
Grove City 106, Westminster 94
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Chuck Cotherman scored a career-high 23 points to lead five Grove City players in double figures in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game. Mark Smith added a career-high 22 points to go along with nine rebounds, while Shawn Carr (Mohawk) had 19, Bobby Turner (Laurel) had a career-high 11 and John Scheller had 10 for the Wolverines (5-9, 1-0). Mark DeMonaco (New Castle) had 23 points for the Titans (4-10, 1-1), while Nick Adams had 18, Craig Hannon (Union) had 17 and Chauncey Whitlow (Wilson) had 11.
WOMEN
Hiram 72, Oberlin 65
HIRAM -- Hiram freshman Stephanie Zunic (Canfield) scored 17 points and added six assists to lead the Terriers (6-6, 1-4 NCAC). Sophomore Brandie Turner added 16 points and seven steals.
Grove City 51, Westminster 42
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Junior guard Elyse Bogusz had 16 points and seven rebounds for Grove City (5-9, 1-0). Sophomore guard Shannon Overdorff added 10 points. Desiree Sterling (Newton Falls) led Westminster with 22 points.
California (Pa.) 62, Slippery Rock 45
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Jessica Schake scored a season-high 23 points and added seven rebounds in a losing effort for The Rock (6-8, 0-1) in a PAC West Division game. Amber McFeely added eight points and three assists, while Amanda Kaufman finished with six points and four rebounds. California (10-3, 1-0) had a 19-point lead at one point in the second half.
