Younstown City Health District to go electronic

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown City Health District awarded a $50,000 contract to Digital Records Management to convert its 1 million-plus paper records to electronic data over the next two or three years.
City Health Commissioner Neil Altman said the conversion will save time for the staff and public in retrieving records, and save money because the department will not have to hire as many additional employees in the future.
Altman said the project will eventually include a public computer room for accessing records.
Also at its meeting Monday, the board accepted 2006 grants from the Ohio Department of Health refunding several of the local health department's on-going programs. They include: Sexually transmitted disease control, $41,141; HIV prevention, $300,602, down about $50,000 from 2005; and the Dental Sealant Program, $32,000, Altman said.
The health commissioner reported that the district's food service operation, which inspects restaurants and other food vending operations, passed an ODH inspection conducted in October and November.
