WARREN -- The Trumbull County Tourism Bureau has voted unanimously to move its offices from the county board of elections building to the historic Connecticut Land Office Building downtown.
The bureau will rent the city-owned, 1,000-square-foot land office building at 321 Mahoning Ave. N.W. for $100 a month for two years.
The city will pay for water and sewer, but the bureau will pay for the gas, electric and telephone bills. The move is expected to occur in four to six weeks, said Dan Polivka, county commissioner and tourism bureau member.
Mayor Michael O'Brien proposed that the newly formed bureau rent the land office building because it is centrally located among the county's key tourist and entertainment attractions.
Exterior renovation of the land office building and the adjacent historic Kinsman House was completed late last year using a $500,000 federal grant.
Reason for decision
The tourism bureau decided in favor of the land office Thursday because of its renovation, historic location and proximity to the Perkins Park amphitheater, Polivka said.
The majority of land sales for the Connecticut Western Reserve, now known as Northeast Ohio, were transacted from that building.
