Missionaries to Honduras will speak on World Gospel Mission



EAST FAIRFIELD -- David and Debbie Hawk, career missionaries to Honduras with the World Gospel Mission, will speak at 9 and 11:15 a.m. Jan. 15 at East Fairfield United Methodist Church, 45675 state Route 558.
Hawk, who was born in Honduras, attended Circleville Bible College in Ohio and earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Texas. His wife was born in Texas and grew up in Burundi, Africa, with missionary parents. She graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky. They have three children.
The Hawks spent one term with World Gospel Mission and served at Taylor Christian School, McAllen, Texas. They transferred to Honduras to serve at the El Sembrador farm school. During their second term, Hurricane Mitch struck Honduras and the Hawks worked in relief and reconstruction efforts. He is general director of El Sembrador and board chairman of Horeb Christian High School. She is director and teacher of El Sembrador Academy on the El Sembrador campus.
The boarding school for underprivileged Honduran boys was founded in 1954 by former WGM missionaries, Donald and Twana Hawk. Since the first class of 12 pupils in 1954, more than 6,000 pupils have been ministered to through El Sembrador's primary, secondary, vocational and Bible institute education programs.
World Gospel Mission, headquartered in Marion, Ind., is an interdenominational missionary organization with about 350 missionaries and support staff serving on five continents.
