Pros to race motorcycles on ice

YOUNGSTOWN -- Xtreme International Ice Racing (XIIR) is coming to the Chevrolet Centre on Jan. 27-28.
The first motor sports show to be held at the downtown arena, XIIR is a professional racing tour that's held on ice.
Drivers use modified speedway motorcycles and quads that go from zero to 60 mph in under 3 seconds.
The machines use studded tires and have no brakes to make it the fastest sport on ice and one of the fastest sports in the world.
The XIIR series tour is backed by the American Motorcyclist Association. Its combination of power and speed on an unpredictable ice surface has made it a crowd-pleaser throughout the country. The event begins at 7 p.m. both nights.
Tickets are on sale now. Prices are $22.50 for VIP (which include a pit pass and meet-and-greet with the riders) and $14.50 for general admission.
