Grease fire burns floor, woman's hand

SHARON, Pa. -- A South Dock Street woman was treated at her home by emergency medical services personnel after she burned her hand trying to carry a smoking pot of grease out of her apartment.
Firefighters said they were called to the apartment of Tammy Douglas at 391 S. Dock St. around 8 p.m. Tuesday for a kitchen fire. They said Douglas was cooking and a pot of grease became too hot and began smoking.
Douglas dropped the pan on the kitchen floor, which burned a hole in the vinyl flooring, firefighters said. No damage estimate was available, and there were no other injuries reported. Firefighters were at the scene about 30 minutes, primarily to clear smoke from the apartment.
