Ohio Wesleyan 65, Westminster 50
DELAWARE -- Sophomore guard/forward Emilee Ackerman posted her first career double-double with 20 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Westminster College women's basketball team fell to 2-10 overall at Ohio Wesleyan University. Junior guard Desiree Sterling (Newton Falls/Newton Falls High) added 14 points and eight caroms for the Lady Titans. Westminster opens Presidents' Athletic Conference play today at 6 p.m. against Thiel College (2-10) at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium in New Wilmington.
Bethany 84, Hiram 61
HIRAM -- Hiram senior Rick Baldwin (Youngstown/Boardman High) scored 11 points and junior Brandon Pool had nine. Seniors A.J. White and T.C. Spencer led in rebounds with seven each. The Terriers (3-8, 1-1 NCAC) travel to Earlham College for Friday's 7:30 p.m. game.
Women
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City fell to 3-8 with a 64-56 loss to visiting Pitt-Greensburg in non-conference action at the Grove City College Arena. Sophomore forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool/Beaver Local) posted a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double for Grove City while sophomore guard Shannon Overdorff had 10 points. Freshman forward Jen Wiley added nine points and seven boards. Tiffany Menhorn led Pitt-Greensburg with 16 points while Tish Hines had 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Wolverines will visit Juniata Saturday at 2 p.m.
Hiram 68, Lake Erie 53
PAINESVILLE -- Three Terriers scored in double figures: Junior Cassie Bedard recorded 18, followed by classmate Abbey Gorby (East Palestine/East Palestine High) with 15 and freshman Stephanie Zunic (Canfield/Canfield High) with 10. Bedard and Junior Michelle Kozempa each grabbed nine rebounds. Sophomore Brandie Turner dished out 11 assists. The Terriers (5-4, 0-2 NCAC) travel to Earlham College on Friday for a 5:30 p.m. game.
