FOWLER -- Trumbull Fire Investigation Unit is seeking the cause of a fire that heavily damaged a home on Wilson-Sharpsville Road.
According to a Trumbull County 911 supervisor, someone from the Bradley residence at 3835 Wilson-Sharpsville Road called 911 around 2:51 p.m. Monday to report smoke was coming out of the roof of the home. The dispatcher advised the occupants to leave the home immediately.
The home was boarded up, and the Trumbull County American Red Cross is assisting three adults, the supervisor said.
Most firefighters cleared the scene around 7:30 p.m., but some returned around 9 p.m. when the fire rekindled at the home, the supervisor said.
Firefighters responded from Fowler, Cortland, Vernon Township, Greene Township, Gustavus Township, Hartford, Johnson, Kinsman, Mecca, Orangeville and Vienna fire departments. There were no injuries reported and no damage estimate available.
Classes on caregiving
NILES -- The American Red Cross, Trumbull Chapter, and St. Joseph Health Center will be offering one-hour family caregiving classes at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 10, 17 and 24 in the St. Joseph's community room at Eastwood Mall.
The Jan. 10 session will cover proper techniques for helping someone with bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting. The Jan. 17 class will teach body mechanics and techniques for repositioning patients to prevent bedsores.
The Jan. 24 session will cover medication administration, skin care and measuring body temperature, pulse and respiration. The sessions, designed to help people caring for a loved one, are $10 each or $25 for all three. Call the Red Cross at (330) 392-2551 for the required pre-registration.
Sports safety course
NILES -- A sports safety course, including CPR and sports medicine, which is required for all school athletic coaches, will be offered from 6 to 10 p.m. Jan. 17 and 19 at ETI Technical College, 2076 Youngstown-Warren Road.
This and other child and adult CPR and first aid courses in January are being sponsored by the American Red Cross, Trumbull Chapter. Some classes meet at ETI and others at the Red Cross in Warren. Call (330) 392-2551 for schedules, fees, meeting locations and the required pre-registration.
Group to meet Jan. 12
LISBON -- Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center Volunteers Association will have its first meeting of the year at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at Beaver Creek State Park's Education Center. Members will elect officers and discuss building the addition onto the current center. All members and those interested in membership are invited to attend. Most the state park is located in St. Clair Township.
