D'YANNI NIXON 'A GIFT FROM THE HEART'

Who: D'yanni Nixon, 4, of New Castle will visit specialists to help diagnose her medical condition. She relies on a wheelchair and is severely delayed in her motor skills. Her story appeared in Monday's editions.

Where: The Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore.
Costs: Doctors have told the family they will not accept their health insurance, and the family must pay all expenses out of pocket. The initial doctor's visit will cost $650.
What's been done: D'yanni's mother, Nicole Nixon, sold pepperoni rolls and held a dinner to get money for the bills. So far, with donations, she's collected $2,900, which is expected to be used up quickly when the doctors begin testing the girl.
